We got a dump-truck load of compost from Royal Oak Farms LLC. Here’s the pile after Dad and Gavin spent Saturday spreading it, bucket by bucket, on the garden rows.
Then Dad did the final tillage.
So Sunday we were able to do our first planting!
We planted two rows of dahlia tubers and five rows of Yukon Gold potatoes.
We covered the rows with Agribon row cover, to keep soil moisture in and protect from frost and insects. Glad we did that since there was a frost that night! Frost wouldn’t bother the potatoes, but the dahlias are sensitive.
